Harrison Clifford Emery, 70, died Tuesday morning at the Mercy Hospital at Des Moines, of a malignancy, following an illness of a little over three weeks. He had undergone surgery October 11, at the hospital and had spent a short time at the Skiff Hospital at Newton, previous to that.
The son of William and Clara Mead Emery, he was born March 16, 1893 at West Bend, Iowa. He attended school at Rhodes, Iowa, and graduated from the high school there in 1911.
Mr. Emery was married to India Marie DeReus on April 10, 1913 at Des Moines. Mrs. Emery preceded him in death October 14, 1962.
He had been a resident of Colfax since 1934 and prior to that had farmed near Mingo. He was employed at the Monroe Company in Colfax for several years, and was working there up to the time of his illness.

Mr. Emery is survived by three daughters, Mrs. George (Velma) Wall of Colfax, Mrs. Guy (Faye) Carter of Humboldt, Mrs. Raymond (Myrtle) Walker of Prairie City; a son, Donald Emery of Zearing; a foster son, Harold Connor of Newton; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Claude De Reus of Valeria and Mrs. Creta Owens of Newton.

Preceding him in death in addition to his wife were a son, LeRoy, an infant son, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Walters Funeral Home at Colfax. Rev. Dale Nicholson, minister of the Colfax Methodist Church will conduct the services.

Bearers: Royal Battles, Harold Frey, Robert Hendee, Edwin Hummel, Joe Slatkoski, Jim Thomas.
Flower Committee: Miss Eleanor Howell, Mrs. Mary Woods and Mrs. Elmer Bell.
Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery.
