Margaret Byal, Former Mingo Resident, Dies
MINGO - Margaret Byal, 74, of Marshalltown, a former resident of the Mingo community, died Wednesday at the Story County Hospital in Nevada.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery, north of Ira.
Survivors are two sisters, Marjorie Byal of Zearing and Mrs. Madge Phelan of Zearing; and a brother, Denver Byal of Mingo.
Miss Byal was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
A member of the Ashton Chapel Church, she had taught for 42 years in schools in West Union, Dallas Center and Marshalltown.
The daughter of Henry and Margaret Rippey Byal, she was born June 26, 1902 in Jasper County, attended Mingo schools and was graduated from Mingo Community High School and Drake University in Des Moines.
