W. Van Der Hart Longtie Area Resident, Dies
MONROE – Walter S. Van Der Hart, 63, R.R. 2, Monroe, lifelong resident of Jasper and Marion counties, died Thursday at his home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Garden Chapel in Pella.
The Rev. John S. Terlouw and the Rev. Frank Snuttjer will officiate and burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery near Prairie City.
Surviving are his widow; Leola; four sons, Harold L., Doyle W., Donald and Francis, all of Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Evelyn) Van Dusseldorp of Otley; seven grandchildren; a brother, Ed Van Der Hart of Prairie City; and a sister, Mrs. Harold (Clara) Varner of Newton; and four stepchildren, Elmer Hall of Boxholm, Vern Hall of Richmond, Va., Charles Strand of Georgia and Floyd Strand of Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his first wife June 15, 1944, and an infant daughter.
The son of Gerrit and Anna Van Der Zyl Van Der hart, he was born March 9, 1901, in the Sandbridge community in Marion County.
He was married to Ruth Painter in 1921 and was married to Leola Strand in August 1952.
