Brian P. McWhirter, 47, of Baxter, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Brian’s funeral service was Thursday, June 23 at the Baxter Community High School Gym in Baxter. Burial was at the Restland Cemetery in Baxter. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in Brian’s name, to be used for several projects may be left at the funeral home or at the school at the time of the service. Memorials may also be mailed to the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
Brian, the son of Robert D. “Bobby” and Sandra “Sam” Dickersbach McWhirter, was born in Newton. He was a graduate of Baxter High School in 1987, and had attended Northwest Missouri State University. On October 7, 1995, Brian was united in marriage with Julie E. Ayers in Colfax. They were blessed with two children, Hannah and Hunter. Brian was an auctioneer and third generation owner/operator of B-M Auction Co. He was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. Brian loved to be with his family, whether it was riding or going on trips with Julie on the Harley, four-wheeling with Hannah, or watching Hunter play sports. He was a huge Green Bay Packers fan and loved ZZ Top. He also enjoyed hanging out on Sundays with the guys in the garage, partnering at sales with Jeremy, but most of all being out at the farm.
Those left to honor and cherish Brian’s memory are his wife, Julie of Baxter; children, Hannah and Hunter McWhirter, both of Baxter; his mother, Sandra “Sam” McWhirter of Baxter; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Karla Clement of Newton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve Ayers of Mingo, Lisa Hansen of Collins and Mark (Kim) Ayers of Colfax; nephews, Derrick (Keriann) Hansen and Dylan Hansen; great-niece, Lena Hansen; several aunts, uncles and cousins,. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Robert D. “Bobby” McWhirter; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
