Frances June (Townsend) Hardenburgh, 99, of Cody, Wyo., formerly of Newton, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the West Park Long Term Care Center in Cody. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 14 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory with a lunch to follow. Memorials in Frances’ name may be left at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at Newton Union Cemetery.
Frances, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Carson) Townsend, was born June 17, 1917. She was united in marriage with Lorren Hardenburgh Nov. 2, 1935. They were blessed with three children, Patricia, Roy and Mary Beth. Frances was a homemaker and later had her own business wallpapering and painting. She loved to quilt, sew, read, do family history on the computer, travel and email. She spent most of her life living in Iowa, Colorado and later years in Cody, Wyo.
Frances is survived by her three children, Patricia Schermerhorn, Roy Hardenburgh and Mary Beth (David) Bucklin; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mae Eckhart, Wilma Eckhart and Mary Ellen (Jack) Gray; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lorren; two brothers, Harold and George Townsend; and sister, Lucille Severidt.
