Life Story of Mrs. Cornelia Vander Velden
Mrs. Mathys (Cornelia) Vander Velden, 88, of Monroe, died Friday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Presbyterian Church in Monroe.
The Rev. George J. Cottay, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are four sons, Hugo of Monroe, Bastian of Prairie City, Leonard of Des Moines and Marion of Monroe; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Swantije) Van Elswky of Pella and one in The Netherlands.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1941, a grandson and a number of sisters and brothers.
Mrs. Vander Velden was born June 22, 1886 in The Netherlands.
