Miss Peery, the daughter of John F. and Eliza (Kling) Peery, was born March 21, 1896 in Elk Creek Township, Jasper County, Iowa, on the Perry home place, where she lived her entire lifetime.
Mary acquired her education in the Jasper County School System. She was a member of the Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle and a past member of the Elk Creek Grange.
Miss Peery is survived by two brothers: Henry Peery of Reasnor and Elmer Peery of Monroe. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: George and Charlie Peery and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Dunnick.
Funeral services for Miss Peery were held from the Pella Garden Chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 11, with the Rev. Philip Ewoldsen of Kellogg officiating.
Mrs. Jacob Monster was organist for the funeral services, playing the selection “Going Down The Valley.”
Casket bearers were Carroll Peery, Kenneth Peery, Donald Peery, Dwight Rohrdanz, Wilbur Ver Steeg and Duane Oswalt.
Interment was made in the St. Andrews Lutheran Cemetery near Galesburg.
