June 21, 1947 - March 19, 2017

Jon Steven Christy was born on June 21, 1947, at Albia, Iowa. He was the second of five children that were born to Wayne Forrest and Mary Gladys (Bridges) Christy. Jon graduated from Albia High School where he had played football. For over 33 years he had been employed at the Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa retiring in 1998 as a member of UAW 997. Jon played the guitar and enjoyed fishing and hunting and his retirement was spent playing scratch tickets and following the stock market. On Sunday, March 19, 2017, he passed away at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, Iowa at the age of 69 years.

Jon is survived by two children: Jon A. Christy and his wife, Jill (Smith) Christy of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Karen Christy of Newton, Iowa; three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter; two brothers and a sister and their spouses: Wayne and Linda Christy of Newton, Iowa, Vicki and Jim Summers of Missouri, and Kevin Christy of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elizabeth Ann Christy.
