Obituary of Mrs. Geo. H. White
Died – In Monroe, Iowa, Aug. 5, 1897, aged 39 years, 7 mos. and 23 days, Mrs. Geo. H. White.
Deceased’s maiden name was Lillian Jessie Holdridge. She was born in East Highgate in Vermont, Dec. 11, 1857. She moved with her parents to Monroe in 1867. Was married when quite young to Mr. Teas. Was again married to Geo. H. White Dec.8, 1883. Her illness lasted for over a year, and was accompanied with a great deal of suffering. She leaves a husband, an only brother, L. L. Holdridge, and Mrs. Cadda McCroskey, who was reared in the family home and feels that the deceased has been a mother to her. She was raised by Christian parents, and often spoke of joining some church when young, but delayed it. But when afflictions came she turned to the Bible and God of her father. She often expressed her faith in God, and said she felt that God, for Christ’s sake, had forgiven all her sins, and her peace was made with Him.
The funeral occurred on Wednesday afternoon from the M.E. church, Rev. Tool preaching the sermon. The pall bears were from the I.O.O.F. lodge, and the Sisters of Rebekah attended in a body, the deceased being a member of that order.
