Edith L. Phifer, age 96 of Monroe, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 10:30 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 4:00 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire or Ambulance Department or Mercy Hospice. The daughter of Ralph and Evaleen (Van Bentum) Warner, Edith was born on June 21, 1920 in Fairmont. On May 11, 1938, she was united in marriage to Earl J. Phifer in Unionville, Missouri. Edith was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. She enjoyed square dancing and camping. She and Earl worked at several area campgrounds.

Those left to honor her memory include her four sons and their spouses, Duane and Kittie, Daryl and Linda, Carroll and Gloria, and Ralph and Susie; 14 grandchildren, Jeff and Eileen, Ryan and Jan, Ward and Leanne, Chad and Tina, Pam Keyser, Donna and Jeff Guilden, Kristofer (Emelyn), Melisa and Sean Paul, Terrie and Kyle Brown, Tim and Debra, Theodore and Christine, Stephane, Wendy, Jeremy St. Peter and Andy St. Peter; 24 great grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob, Claire, Rachel, Braden, Meghan, Joshua, Taylor, Nathan, Kara, Adam, Peyton, Matt, Alyssa, Ben, Zach, Mia, Erin, Emma, Zoe, Connie, Daniel, Allison, and Gavin; two great great grandsons, Dillon and Liam, and a sister-in-law, Norma Warner. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, step mother, two brothers, Robert and Dwight and her husband, Earl J. Phifer in 1995. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Monroe, Iowa 8 Feb 2017.
