TRIBUTE
Alma Janet Vos, daughter of Cornelius and Jennie (Van Ryswyk) Rus was born June 9, 1926, in Pella, Iowa. She passed away at Pella Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the age of ninety years.

In her early childhood Alma attended Liberty Corner Country School later she attended Des Moines Area Community College and she worked at Pella Christian High School, Pella National Bank, and Hometown Variety for 25 years.

On February 14, 1946, she was united in marriage with John Vos in Reasnor, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Dennis, Stephen, Cheryl, and Debra. The family lived on farms near Otley and Prairie City. In 1956, John and Alma moved to the Pella area and farmed until 1968.

Alma made profession of faith in 1945, at First Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Later she became a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church where she was active in Mission Circle, and was a Calvinettes counselor.

Alma was always loyal, nurturing, kind, supportive and accepting of everyone. Some of her hobbies were playing the organ, making ceramics, paint-by-number, knitting and crocheting. She was an excellent seamstress and made clothes for the family and knit an afghan for each of her grandchildren. Family was very important to Alma, she loved to talk about her grandchildren.

Alma is survived by her four children and their spouses: Dennis and Veryl Vos of Prague, Oklahoma, Stephen and Beverly Vos of Jackson, Tennessee, Cheryl and Peter Rozendaal of Pella, Iowa, and Debra and Peter Seiler of Omaha, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law Wilma Rus.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents; her brothers Peter and Dora Rus, and Dick Rus; sisters Evalena and Dan Witzenburg and Aletta and Andrew Hiemstra. ~ The Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Pella, Iowa 3 Jan 2017.
