BESSIE L. DELK

Bessie L. Delk died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Accura Healthcare of Newton West. Due to her wishes, she was cremated and there will be no funeral service. Private family services will be at a later date.

Bessie was born to Frank and Eunice (Landes) Sparks March 20, 1930, in Missouri. She was a devoted homemaker and loved spending time with family. She also enjoyed going to garage sales. Bessie was married to Max Gilbert in 1949, until his death in 1952. Then she was married to Joe Ray Delk in 1958, until his death in 2015.

Bessie is survived by two daughters, Pat (Dean) Schutte and Jane (Dan) Shine; three grandchildren, Sherry (Marty) Griggs, Dan (Tonya) Schutte and Danielle Shine; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Erma Halverson of Cedar Rapids.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; three brothers; husband, Max Gilbert; husband, Joe Ray Delk; and grandson, David Schutte.
