Doris Patterson, 87, of Newton died on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Accura East. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 13, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doris’ name may be left at the funeral home.

Doris, the daughter of Russell and Rosa (Schultz) Patterson, was born on August 8, 1929 in Weeping Water, Nebraska. As a young girl her family moved to Jasper County, Iowa and she lived in different communities in Jasper County the rest of her life. Doris worked at Howard Fenners’ Restaurant, Pyramid Plastics, and then retired from Mason’s Café. She was known for making the best pies and hammering out pork tenderloins. Doris also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and collecting old dolls.

Doris is survived by her sister, Jane Grimm of Colfax; brother, Don (Kathy) Patterson of Newton; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Troy Patterson; and siblings, Kenneth Patterson, Julie Leitzinger, Raymond Patterson, Lois Chapman, and Ralph Patterson. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 7 Dec 2016.
