Mrs. Matilda Dixson, known to her friends and neighbors as Grandma Dixson, passed away last evening at ___ o’clock at the home of her son on ___ Main Street. She had been quite ill for a number of years. A short time since she had a stroke of paralysis ___ , which the members of her family realized the fact that the end was near. ___ John L. Dixson and two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Carpenter and Mrs. Mame Gleason of Detroit, Mich., were with her during the past two ____ and did everything possible for the comfort of their mother. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at ___ o’clock at the Lutheran Church. Rev. G. W. McMillan will officiate. The interment will be in the Newton Cemetery.

Mrs. Dixson was born in Ireland, at ____ Stewart, September 20, 1822. The family came to this country and she was married to Abram Dixson of _____ling, West Virginia, in 1841. They located in Zanesville, O., where Mr. Dixson became a successful wholesale coffee and tea merchant. The children are: Geo. W., of Chicago, Mrs. ___ Morgan, of Ashville, N. C., ____rd, Albert, of Kansas City, Mrs. J. C. Carpenter and Mrs. Mame Gleason of Detroit, Mich., and John L.

After the death of her husband and sale of the property some twenty years ago, she made her home in Newton with John L.

She was a devoted Christian and attended the Lutheran Church, although _____ member. She was a warm-hearted, kind, loving character and dearly loved by her children. It was here in Newton that people began calling her “grandma” on account of her sweet, lovable character, and she was spoken of very tenderly by all who knew her.
