Hold Rites Today for Mrs. Rogers

Funeral services for Mrs. George Rogers, 78, Newton area resident for the past 62 years, were held this afternoon at the Toland Funeral Home. Mrs. Rogers died Friday at Skiff Memorial hospital.

Rev. J. Wilfred Walker, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiated at the rites today. Burial was at Newton Union cemetery.

Mrs. Forrest Jenkins sang "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. Paul Murdy was accompanist.

Pallbears were Ben Law, Earl Parks, Hubert Pernell, Rollie Burgess, Harp Smith and Paul Murdy. Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. J.P. Brunner, Mrs. Fred Byerley and Mrs. J.C. Bair.

Mr. and Mrs. Rogers would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this Christmas Day. Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, one son, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one brother.

Notes: Ruth Isabel Walker was born January 25, 1871 and died November 4, 1949.

Surviving children were Melissa Irene (Mrs. Alvin) Case, Wilma (Mrs. Roscoe) Brock, Esther A, Rogers (later Mrs. Lyle Page) and LeRoy William Rogers.

Surviving brother was Frank Irvin Walker.

Mrs. Rogers' parents were William B. and Mary A. (Dixon) Walker.
