BRAND, KOOISTRA, RHYHOEK

William Brand, son of Jacob and Jane Brand, died at the Mt. Pleasant hospital in Mt. Pleasant following a two weeks’ illness of pneumonia
Mr. Brand was born Mar. 23, 1885 on a farm near Sully, and lived in this vicinity all his life and passed away Friday, March 6, 1942 at the age of 56 years, 11 months and 6 days.
He leaves to mourn his loss three sisters: Mary Brand of Pella, Mrs. Minnie Kooistra of Newton, and Mrs. Catherine Kooistra of Sully; one brother, Jake Brand of Lynnville, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters, Henry Brand, Frank Brand, Mrs. Eva Rhyhoek, John Brand, Ira Brand, Charlie Brand, Jennie Brand and one brother, who died in infancy.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Mar. 10 at 2 o’clock at the Reformed Church here with the Rev. Ralph Menning, pastor of that church, in charge.
A quartet composed of A. H. Pearl and Verna Vander Beek and Harold DeJong sang “In the Sweet Bye and Bye” and “Take the World But Give Me Jesus,” accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Menning.
Floral pieces were in charge of Mrs. Wayne Wildman and Mrs. Harry Engle.
The pallbearers, nephews of the deceased, were: Bennie Rhyhoek, Jacob H. Brand, Lyle Brand, Elmer Kooistra, Raymond Brand and Bernard Kooistra. Interment was in the Sully cemetery.
