ACHTEMEIER, BEIR, DERING, JANSSEN, JANTZEN, SCHWAB, SCHWALM

Henry William Achtemeier died at his home near Harbine, Neb., Saturday, Feb. 28, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 3 days.

Born near the village of Howards Grove, then Pitchville, Wis., July 4, 1860, he came with his parents to a farm near Newton, in 1866.
At the age of 24, he left Iowa to take up residence on the undeveloped prairie near Harbine, where he lived until his death, with the exception of a short period he resided in Beatrice.

In 1888, he was united in marriage to Amelia Beir and to this union three children were born, who died in infancy. A daughter, May, was adopted into the home shortly before Mrs. Achtemeier died of a prolonged illness.

In 1906, he was married to Elizabeth Schwab of Plymouth, Neb. Six children were born to this union, two of which preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife, four children: Kayser of Lincoln; Mrs. Martha Janssen of DeWitt, Mrs. Anna Dering of Lincoln, Mrs. Clara Jantzen of Harbine; five grandchildren; an adopted daughter, Mrs. May Schwalm of Plymouth; and two brothers: F. C. Achtemeier of Jansen and Charles of Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held Mar. 3, at the Reformed church near Harbine.
Floral pieces were in charge of Mrs. Clara Bollhoefer, Mrs. Bertha Bohme, Mrs. Minnie Eilert, and Mrs. Lilly Mencke, all of Newton, Ia.
Nephews serving as pallbearers were: William, Albert, John, F. W., Arthur and Harold Achtemeier.
