Nathaniel James LeGrand, age 33 of Monroe, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016, in Monroe. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Monroe with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be used for Harrison's future educational needs. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of James Wilson LeGrand and Kelly Gene (Berry) Romick, Nathan was born on March 12, 1983 in Pella. He graduated from PCM High School in 2001 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Central College. On October 29, 2011, he was united in marriage to Lindsey Marie Birkenholtz in Pleasant Hill. Nathan was a member of the Grace Alive Church in Prairie City. He enjoyed music, especially playing the guitar, Notre Dame football, various sports, and hunting. His greatest joy in life was being a father to his son Harrison.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lindsey; a son, Harrison; mother, Kelly Romick and her husband Barry; father Jim LeGrand and his wife Nicole; sister, Abby Brandl, her husband Justin, and two nephews Emerick and Anders; two brothers, Austin Van Wyk and his fiancé, Linzi and Wilson J. LeGrand and his girlfriend Kylie; and four step siblings including step brother Andrew Romick and his wife Celia; step sister Alisa Romick and her wife Melanie; step sister Emily Romick; step brother Bryce Romick, paternal grandparents, John and June LeGrand; maternal step grandparents Larry and Marcy Romick and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding Nathan in death were his maternal grandparents, Jim and MaryGene Berry, an uncle, Dave Berry, and a cousin, Keith Berry. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Monroe, Iowa 4 Nov 2016.
