Isaac Bennett died this morning at 11:00 at his home five miles south of Newton. He was 81 years old. He had been troubled with his heart for some time but there was no apparent danger. He had not been feeling well for several days but was up and around, and ate supper with his family last night. His death this morning was very sudden.

Deceased leaves a wife and six children.

Isaac Bennett died of heart disease at his home five miles south of this city Thursday, February 23, 1905. He was eighty-two years old and had been a resident of this county since 1856.

In 1846 Mr. Bennett married Isabel McDonnal of New York. To them six children were born. Four sons, Samuel O., Isaac E., Charles W., and Fletcher R. and two daughters, Mrs. Ida M. Swigart and Mrs. Emma B. Fleming.

Mr. Bennett was identified with the early history and organization of Palo Alto Township and was considered on of its most influential citizens.

The funeral was held at the United Presbyterian Palo Alto Church Sunday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. E. F. Gillis. The interment was made in the church cemetery at that place. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, IA, Tuesday, February 28, 1905, Page 1, Column 4
