Joni Lynn Carter, 55, of Newton died on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at her home. A celebration of Joni’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kelsey’s name to be used for Joni may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Joni, the daughter of Leonard and Dee (Lane) Shadley, was born on May 16, 1961 in Newton. She was a lifelong resident of Newton. Joni was united in marriage with Dale “Dudley” Saunders in 1978 in Newton. She worked at Taco Johns as an Assistant Manager for over 20 years. Joni enjoyed dancing, playing cards, scratch tickets, and discussing the paranormal with Skylar. She also loved her cat Savie.

Joni is survived by her daughter, Kelsey Saunders (Paul Neuroth) of Marshalltown; three grandchildren, Jackson, Paige, and Lillie; mother, Dee (Dale) Mahoney of Newton; sister, Marcy Kingery of Newton; brother, Randy Shadley of Indiana; five nieces and nephews, Nick (Desiree) Shadley, Erin (Juan) Juarez, Ray (Alicia) Stoner, Brandy (James) Foster, and Skylar Dawson; and her great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Shadley; husband of 23 years, Dudley Saunders; and a son, Robbie Saunders. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 26 Oct 2016.
