Hedwig "Hedy" Barker, age 89 of Colfax, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Park Centre in Newton. Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at McKeever Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Johann and Ursela (Oberleitner) Lechner, Hedy was born on June 26, 1927, in Munich, Germany. She moved to Colfax in 1947. On July 19, 1947, she was united in marriage to George Barker in Newton. Hedy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society. Her family was everything to her, they always came first.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Linda Sufficool of Colfax, George Wayne (Laura) Barker of Altoona and John Charles (Michelle) Barker of Newton; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Hilda Murray and Ingrid Vttrel and a brother Johann Lechner.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband in 1985, a sister, Maria; two brothers, Ulrich and Ludwig and a son-in-law, Paul Sufficool. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, IA 16 Oct 2016.
