Raymond W. Welle of Kellogg Dies; Rites on Tuesday

KELLOGG - Raymond W. Welle, 71, of Kellogg, an employee of the Kellogg Savings Bank for 26 years until retiring in 1971 and a former employee of the Jasper County Savings Bank in Newton, died Saturday noon at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Reese Chapel in Newton.

The Rev. Ernest Elzey, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kellogg, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Pauline of Kellogg; a number of nieces and nephews, including Thomas R. Welle of Fairfax, Va., and Marjorie Ann Welle of Des Moines; and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clarence H. Welle.

Mr. Welle was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The son of Peter and Lena Van Zante Welle, he was born Jan. 25, 1908 at Sully and attended Sully and Toledo schools.

He was married to Pauline E. Haunsperger in 1948.
