Doris Roberta Butler, 86, of Bondurant, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, in Accura HealthCare in Newton.

Doris was born in Oskaloosa, Aug. 29, 1930, to Clarence and Elva Snook. She was married to Henry Butler for more than 30 years and enjoyed family time. She worked and retired from Maytag with 30 years work experience. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, doing crafts and reading. Doris was an active member of the Moose Lodge in Newton.

During Doris’ last years, she moved from her home in Reasnor, to an apartment in Newton, where she resided for a couple of years with close support from family and friends. A special thanks to a close friend, Heidi Rodgers, who assisted in caring for Doris every day when she got off her 12-hour shift at work. Heidi adopted Doris as her grandmother and did an awesome job in taking care of Doris in her need. Heidi assisted with Doris until Doris moved to an assisted living facility in Bondurant.

Doris is survived by her brother, Larry (Barb) Snook of Missouri; sons, Mike Butler of Washington, Mike (Cindy) Cooper of Colfax, Terry Cooper of Newton and Dennis (Nikki) Cooper of Newton; daughters, Connie Simpson of California, Kathy Ballard of Newton, Karen Keifer of Colorado and Kristy Butler of Guthrie Center; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all.

Doris is proceeded in death by her husband, Henry Butler; brothers, Harold and Delbert Snook; and granddaughter, Samantha Butler.

A memorial will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the Colfax Community Center. Doris’ cousin, Duane Malloy of Alabama, will be officiating the memorial in Doris’ name. Doris’ ashes will be laid to rest in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, following the memorial service with Heidi Rodgers officiating as the honorary bearer. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 10 Oct 2016.
