Dorothy I. Marshall, 86, formerly of Newton, Mingo, and Monroe, died on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2016, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service and again after the service with a lunch at the funeral home. Memorials in Dorothy’s name may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dorothy, the daughter of George and Edith (Wagstaff) Wallace, was born on January 13, 1930 on the family farm in Monroe, Iowa. She grew up in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School.

Dorothy was united in marriage with O. Leroy Marshall on February 27, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. They made their home in Mingo for 40 years, where they raised their children. They later moved to Newton. Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and embroidery.

Dorothy is survived by her four children, Cynthia Baldwin of Des Moines, Dennis (Patty) Marshall of Milo, Khristine (Kenny) Bragg of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Darwin (Nancy) Marshall of Prairie City; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Tony, Daron, and Gerald Marshall and Michael and David Penney; six great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Cooper, and Benjamin Marshall and Johnathan, Loghan, and Zaira Penney; and her sister, Anna Morgan of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy; three brothers; and two sisters. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 28 Sept 2016.
