Services Today for J. Merrill Anderson

J. Merrill Anderson, 75, president of the Iowa Farm Bureau for 12 years, died Sunday morning, June 23, at Lake Havasu City Hospital in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27 (today), at the First Lutheran Church in Newton.

The Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret K.; two daughters, Pam (Mrs. Conrad) Shaffer of Newton and Nancy (Mrs. Jim) Bierma of Urbandale; five grandchildren; and a brother, Howard E. of Essex, Mr. Anderson was an uncle of Wayne Poage of Baxter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

The son of Arthur C. and Elise Nordquist Anderson, he was born July 6, 1915 in Montgomery County. He was married to Margaret K. Poage June 12, 1937, in Ames. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Thurs 27 June 1991.
