Mrs. Amanda Raridon, whose death occurred Saturday at her home in Colfax, would have been seventy-eight years old the 25th of February 1908. She was the widow of the late George Raridon.
In a very early day Mr. and Mrs. Raridon left their Ohio home and came to Davenport, Iowa. Fifty-five years ago they moved to this county, and settled on a farm near Baxter. This was their home until about 1883. At that date they went to Colfax to reside.
Mrs. Raridon was a dear Christian mother well beloved by her children and friends.
Of the eleven children born to her, nine are living. They are: C. P. Raridon, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Walter of Washington; Mrs. Lettie Owens, of Minnesota, C. A. Raridon, Andover, South Dakota; Quincy, of Des Moines; Homer, who lives near Baxter on the old home place; Mrs. Sarah Wheat, Ohio City, Colo.; A. C., of this city; and Hattie, who has been with her mother all these last years helping to make the life comfortable and happy.
The first three mentioned will not be here for the funeral. Mrs. Owens came New Years day and only left the mother on Monday before her death to return to her home in Minnesota. The others will all be here for the funeral.
Deceased has for many years been a member of the Christian church. The funeral will be held from the home in Colfax tomorrow afternoon and the interment will be made in the cemetery there.
The mother’s request was that her four sons, Charles A., Quincy A., Homer and Adrian C., and her friends, W. B. Wells and C. A. Johnson, from Colfax, should be her pall bearers.
