Sostenes Urias Dies Saturday; Rites Tuesday
Sostenes Urias, 85, of 121 W. 10th St. N., a resident of Newton for 50 years, died early Saturday morning at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The Rev. Francis Bass, pastor of the church will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Rosary and wake services will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home. All Knights of Columbus members are requested to be at the funeral home by 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions to the Easter Seal Crippled Children Fund will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Avelina; five sons, E. N. (Mickey), Jim and Joe, all of Newton, Soilo of Des Moines and Sostenes of Kerrville, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Junior (Dorothy) Lockwood of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Joe (Mary) Gonzales of Los Angeles, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Mr. Urias was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was a retired Maytag Co. employee in the foundry.
The son of Sostenes and Rosario Cerecer Urias, he was born Jan. 21, 1888 near Sinoloa, Mexico.
He was married to Avelina Sifuentes Aug. 15, 1918 in Mexico.
