C. T. Greene

Chester T. Greene, 79, of 1009 E. 10th St. N., who operated and managed the Safety Bus Co. in Newton after World war II, died Sunday morning, July 1, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Jerry Doellinger, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home after noon today, July 2. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A memorial to the Our Savior Lutheran Church in his name has been established. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church.

Survivors are his wife, Louise; a son, Richard C. Greene of La Miranda, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Warren (Jayne) De Pringer of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Wayne (Beverly) Russell of Newton; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Greene was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

The son of Chester R. and Elizabeth Leake Greene, he was born June 27, 1905 at Wheatridge, Colo.

He moved with his family from Iola, Kan., to Newton when he was five years old.

He was married to Louise Casper June 29, 1932 in Bethany, Mo.

He was employed at Winpower until retiring in 1969. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 2 July 1984.
