Clifford Irelan

Clifford S. Irelan, 80, of 428 S. 3rd Ave. W., a resident of Newton for 58 years, died Thursday morning, July 12, at the Embassy Manor Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at the Wallace Pence Funeral Home.

Dr. Richard Bentziner, pastor of the First United Methodist Church will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Friday, July 13.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Blanche, two sons, Robert of Park Ridge, Ill., and Max of Hendersonvile, Tenn.; a daughter, Norma Lock of Des Moines; five grandsons, three granddaughters; a great-grandson; and a brother, Clell Irelan of rural Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters.

Mr. Irelan, a member of the First United Methodist Church, had been a machine operator at the Maytag co. prior to his retirement in 1961.

He was born Feb. 12, 1904 in Bloomfield.

He was married to Blanche Kough June 26, 1926 in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Thurs 12 July 1984.
