CHARLES LEWIS WATTS

Charles Lewis Watts born in Kellogg, Iowa, April 29, 1882, died at his home in Nodaway, Iowa on August 11, 1962 at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 13 days.

He was united in marriage to Carrie Mae Vaughn on August 30, 1910 at Nodaway. They resided on a farm south of Nodaway for several years. In 1930 they moved to town and Charlie, with his brother-in-law, Clyde Vaughn purchased a hardware store, which they operated until his retirement in 1962.

He leaves to mourn, his widow Mae; five children, Mrs. Ardis Peterson of Des Moines, Elmer Watts of Audubon, Lyle Watts of Falls Church, Virginia, Mrs. Les Conklin of Audubon, and Dr. Charles Watts of Des Moines; one brother Clyde Vaughn of Nodaway; seven grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives in Nodaway. Also one sister, Mrs. Mary VanOver of Yakima, Washington, his brother-in-law and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Vaughn of Nodaway.

Since coming to Nodaway he has been affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian Church Thursday, August 14 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Moore officiating. Interment in Nodaway Cemetery.
