Life Story of Mark M. Woody
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 21 at the United Methodist Church in Monroe for Mark M. Woody. Rev. Jerry B. Wolcott officiated with interment in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Mark Milton Woody died of a heart attack at his rural Monroe, Iowa, residence on Friday, Sept. 16, 1977 at the age of sixty-nine years, eight months and nine days.
Mark was born on January 7th, 1908 in Jasper County, Iowa, the son of John and Anna L. (Byers) Woody.
On February 29th, 1928, at Des Moines, he was united in marriage to Thelma Lorraine Caulkins, who preceded him in death on December 1, 1970.
Mr. Woody is survived by his three children: Beverly, Mrs. Robert Sheeler of Monroe, Dean M. Woody of Monroe and Jon E. Woody of Newton. There are six grandchildren surviving him.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one grandson, one granddaughter, two brothers: Amor and Percy H. Woody and one sister, Olive, Mrs. Roy Marshall.
Mr. Woody was engaged in farming near his birthplace his entire lifetime and also was employed at Maytag Company in Newton for a number of years.
Mark was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monroe.
