Witzenburg, Grace Fennema – 1898-1992

Services Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Witzenburg of Pella were held March 19, 1992 at the Chapel of Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. Rev. Cornie Reynen officiated. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Grace was the first of five children born to Gerrit H. and Allie Dora Dykstra Fennema. She was born March 25, 1898 near Otley, Iowa, and attended the Liberty Corner Country Grade School. On September 29, 1917, she was united in marriage with John (Ana) Witzenburg at Otley and to this union one daughter was born, G. Pauline. John and Grace farmed near Otley and west of Pella until 1940, when they moved into Pella. John then became a livestock dealer, which he did actively. They continued to live in Pella until 1986. John passed away May 11, 1987 at the age of 94 years. Grace continued to reside at the Hilltop Manor in Pella until becoming a patient in Inn Care of the Pella Community Hospital in June of 1990. She passed away March 6, 1992, at the Pella Community Nursing Home.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Harold M. Van Zee of Otley; two grandchildren and their spouses: Dorothy Berdene and Dean North of Monroe; Paul David and Dee Van Zee of Otley; four great grandchildren: Dennis Wayne and Wanda North of Monroe, Dara Kay and William Strohman of Algona, Julie Ann Van Zee of Hull and her fiancé, Todd Visscher, Bradley Paul Van Zee, a student at Northwestern College in Orange City, and one great-great-granddaughter, Erin Kristine North, and a sister, Gertrude Fennema of Pella.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and three brothers.
