Life Story of Sam Williams
Funeral services for Sam Williams, 60, a longtime resident of Jasper County, were held Monday afternoon at the Monroe United Methodist Church.
Elder Arthur Nichols of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints conducted the services. Burial was in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Elsie; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Hartwell of Lynwood, Calif., and Mrs. Gene (Jean) Scarbrough of Newton; two sons, Samuel J. of Rt. 2, Pella, and Gary W. of Iowa City; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four brothers, Russell of Hampton, Don of Tulsa, Okla., Bill of Rock Island, Ill., and Dean of Superior, Wis.; and two sisters, Mrs. William (Norma) Townsend and Mrs. Robert (Marguerite) Smith, both of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George.
Mr. Williams was born May 5, 1910 at Seevers.
He was married to Elsie McCumber May 3, 1930 at Oskaloosa.
Mr. Williams died Thursday at Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville.
