Services Held
Services were held Wednesday morning for Henry W. Willemsen, 83, of Pella at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. The Rev. Marvin Buekelma, pastor of the Otley Reformed Church, conducted services. Burial was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
He died Saturday, March 14, 1987 at the Pella Community Nursing Home.
Survivors are his wife, Jennie; two daughters, Jennie Johanna “Jo” (Mrs. Robert) Pippel of Pella and Jo Ann (Mrs. Darrell) Van Wyk of Monroe; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Also surviving are a step great grandchild; three brothers, John, Neal and Joe Willemsen, all of Pella; and a sister, Cornelia Vande Voort of Pella.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jeff, Dirk and William and three sisters, Henrietta Neff, Johanna Van Zee and Jennie Vander Peut.
The son of Henry and Johanna Spronk Willemsen, he was born April 13, 1903 at Dodewaard, Gelderland, The Netherlands. He came to the United States at the age of eight. He was educated in rural Sully area schools.
He was married to Jennie Brouwer Dec. 28, 1927 near Pella.
