Lenona (Nona) Wierda, 85, died June 12 at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. She was born on May 17, 1900, in Monroe, the daughter of George M. and Dora Waddle Marshall.
She lived most of her life in the Monroe area except for ten years in the Portland, Ore. She was a member of the Women Relief Corp., and Rebecca Lodge, in both of which she held several offices. She was a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville, where she put in over 1800 hours. She was married to Charles V. Comey in 1923, who died in 1943. She married Wiebe Wierda in 1954.
She is survived by a brother, Orval Marshall, Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and L. C. Marshall.
Funeral services were held June 15 at the Presbyterian Church in Monroe, with Rev. Roger Graf officiating. Burial was at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Arrangements were made by the Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
