S. Rinehart Succumbs
Pneumonia And Heart Complications Fatal To 77 Year-Old Reasnor Man
Reasnor – Sherman Rinehart, 77, life-long resident of Jasper county succumbed at 7:10 this morning at Skiff Memorial Hospital of pneumonia and a heart ailment which developed following an operation. Mr. Rinehart entered the hospital Monday, Dec. 20. Prior to that time he had been in about his usual health, having actively continued his work as caretaker of the Hewitt and Lutheran cemeteries of near Galesburg.
A native of Jasper county he was born near Prairie City on August 1, 1866, one of two sons of the late John and Sarah Rinehart.
At the age of 27, on his birthday anniversary date, he was united in marriage to Mary Emma Pendroy. Four children were born to the union, all of whom survive: Mrs. Martin (Mabel) Terpstra of Reasnor; Carl W. Rinehart of Knoxville; Grace E. Rinehart who is an assistant in the office of Dr. L. L. Smead in Newton, and Morray L. Rinehart of Monroe. Also surviving is his brother, Mell F. Rinehart of Monroe.
Mrs. Rinehart preceded her husband in death on Jan. 19, 1922 at their home in Galesburg where they had moved a few years before upon retiring from farming in the Monroe vicinity. Since shortly after the death of Mrs. Rinehart, Mr. Rinehart had made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Terpstra of near Reasnor.
He was a member of the Galesburg Methodist church and of the Three Quarter Century club.
Funeral services have been tentatively set for 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Galesburg Christian church. Interment will be in the Monroe cemetery.
