Services Held
Greta M. Riis, 83, Slater, died December 13 of pneumonia at the Madrid Home for the Aging, Madrid. Services were held December 17 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Slater, with the Rev. Craig Ause officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Greta Wilson was born in Monroe to John and Jennie (Bowman) Wilson. She moved to Slater in 1931 and lived at the Madrid Home for the Aging for the past four years. On January 21, 1931, she married Freebert Riis. She assisted her husband at Riis Funeral Home for 50 years.
She is survived by her husband, Freebert; two daughters, Jackie Watermiller of Des Moines and Sharon Wilderman of Fullerton, California; one son, Wayne Riis of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Grace Rinemuth of Monroe; one brother Gavin Wilson of Pella; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
