Services Held
Esther F. Van Baale Richards, 84, a resident of Newton since 1981, died Saturday, January 30, 1993, at Skiff Medical Center of a heart attack.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Monroe Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Thomas Bass, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Memorials to the Monroe Presbyterian Church will be accepted.
Survivors are three sisters, Lilly Sheeler of Monroe and Gladys Sprague and Betty Snook, both of Newton; a brother, Lee Van Baale of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don Richards, three brothers, Bill, Bert and Frank Van Baale, and two sisters, Barbara Everly and Ruth Vriezelaar.
The daughter of Frank and Cathryn Kaldenberg Van Baale, was born January 29, 1909, in Monroe.
Mrs. Richards had lived in Boone for many years.
