Services Held
Hazel Boliver Birkenholtz Oltrogge, 66, of Grinnell, died Wednesday, October 14, 1992 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of injuries she received in an accident.
Funeral services were held Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grinnell.
The Rev. Arvid Dixen, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Grinnell Band Boosters will be accepted.
Survivors are her husband, Eldon; two sons, Gary Boliver of Wichita, Kansas, and Gail Boliver of Marshalltown; a daughter, Cindy Graham of Center Point; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Eldred Boliver, and two brothers, Lyle and Virgil Birkenholtz.
Mrs. Oltrogge, a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, managed a farm and drove a school bus following the death of her first husband.
The daughter of William and Mabel Gildersleeve Birkenholtz, she was born September 17, 1926, in Monroe and was raised in Monroe and Prairie City. She was a 1944 graduate of Prairie City Community High School.
She was married to Eldred Boliver June 4, 1944, at Prairie City and the couple resided in Prairie City until 1950 when they moved to a farm near Newburg.
She was married to Eldon Oltrogge February 6, 1959 at Troutman, N.C., and the couple farmed in Sheridan Township, northeast of Grinnell until retiring in the autumn of 1987 and moving to Grinnell to make their home.
