Services Held
Richard Olivier, 80, a resident of Monroe since 1972, died Wednesday, January 16, 1991, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Monroe First Baptist church.
The Rev. John Adams, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are his wife, Gertrude; five sisters, Gertrude Veenendall of Yakima, Wash., Tena Van Rees of Pella, Bertha Uitermarkt of Prairie City, Margaret Hampton of Oskaloosa; and Josephine Sytsma of Eddyville; and two brothers, John Olivier of Cottonwood, Arizona, and Edward Olivier of Otley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy.
The son of Peter and Hattie Van Heukelen Olivier, he was born August 28, 1920 near Pella.
He was married to Gertrude Scheffers November 1, 1930, in Newton.
Mr. Olivier farmed in the Pleasantville area for 18 years, and was a maintenance worker in Denver, Colorado, for 10 years.
