Services for Glenna Vea Mathes were held May 1, 1995, at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. Glenna passed away April 28, 1995 at her home in Monroe. Glenna was 61 years old.
Glenna Vea Anderson Mathes was born on June 1, 1933, in Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Clark Richard Anderson and Cleo Beatrice Grimes Anderson.
Her early years were spent in the Melcher-Dallas area where she graduated from High School in 1951. Glenna participated in basketball and softball while in school and was also active in other school activities. She also developed a love for horses at an early age and still owned a horse at this time.
Glenna had worked for the bank in Monroe at one time and also had been employed at Banker’s Life in Des Moines. She had been employed at Huney, Vaughn and Associates as a receptionist in the court reporters office for many years until her health forced her retirement 6 ½ years ago.
Glenna was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her three children, Mrs. Jill Carter and husband Craig of Collins, Barry Mathes and wife Barbara of Pella, and Wesley Mathes and wife Julie of Madrid, her four very special grandchildren, Scott James, Jay Andrew, Kyle Clark and Brett Andrew. One sister also survives her, Mrs. Virgil (Donna) Schrader of Melcher-Dallas.
