Mrs. Rosa Koons Lutz
Rosa Koons, daughter of James and Annie Koons was born at Harvey, Iowa, September 19, 1885.
She was the youngest of eight children. Her parents, three sisters, Nora Belle Koons, Mrs. Electa May Lutz, Mrs. Ella Morris and one brother, Willie P. Koons preceded her in death.
On September 11, 1901 she was united in marriage to David Leroy Lutz of Monroe. To this union two children were born, Mrs. W. S. Stanberry and Dean Lutz, both of Monroe.
She had been sick for about a year. Most of this time was spent at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton, where she passed away Monday night, November 20, 1939, at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 1 day.
She was a member of “The Assembly of God” church of Monroe.
She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, two children, one step-son , Elmer Lutz, of Monroe, two step grandsons, Gene Koons of Monroe and George Koons of Mason City, two brothers, Russell of Arapahoe, Nebraska, Isaac of Tecumseh, Nebraska, one sister, Edna Nicholson of Fort Morgan, Colorado, and eight grandchildren, besides a host of friends.
She was a kind and loving wife and mother. Her thoughts were always for her family and friends.
During her long illness she was very patient and always had a smile for everyone who visited her.
Funeral services were held by Mrs. F. G. Cline Thursday afternoon from the Crumpacker Funeral home.
Donald Vriezelaar sang, “Rock of Ages”, “Going Down The Valley” and “The City Four Square” accompanied by Mrs. Carl Crane at the piano.
Pallbearers were: Joe Long, Dr. Ross Spratt, John Palmer, Jake Dingeman, Homer Tharp, and Carl Crane.
Burial was in the Dunreath Cemetery.
