Services Held
Graveside memorial services for Mrs. Joseph (Ruby) Long were held in Monroe’s Silent City Cemetery on April 16, 1985. Dr. Otto Steele, Jr. officiated.
Mrs. Joseph (Ruby) Long, 89, passed away on April 12, 1985 at a Mt. Clemons, Michigan nursing home. She was born in the Red Rock Community of Marion County on Sept. 28, 1895, the daughter of Winfield Scott and Anna Bell Barber Butler. A graduate of Indianola High School, Mrs. Long had attended college at the University of North Dakota.
On Aug. 27, 1919, she was united in marriage to Joseph Long at Dallas Center, Iowa. The Longs made their home in Monroe until 1962 when they went to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mrs. Long has made her home in Michigan since 1978.
Surviving are her son Joseph D. Long Jr., Albuquerque, N.M., a daughter Mrs. Anna May (Richard) Herdman, Mt. Clemons, Mich., 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and a brother.
