Services Held
Services for Charles “Matt” Lindsey of Beaman were held Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Rev. Bobby Shomo officiated the services with a private family burial service at Albion Cemetery at a later date.
Charles “Matt” Lindsey passed away Monday, March 11, 2002, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown.
The son of Matthew Madison and Sarah Jane (McDonald) Lindsey, was born January 2, 1925, in Valeria. He went to school in Missouri and Colfax.
He married Elizabeth Meyer February 25, 1951, in Newton. They resided in Newton and he worked in the lumberyard until 1965, when they moved to Marietta. They later moved to Marshalltown. He was employed with the water works and Marshall County landfill. They lived in Colorado Springs until he retired in 1989, and then moved to Beaman in 1990.
Charles was a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Beaman Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Wayne of Tama; a daughter and son-in-law, Anna Marie and Richard Kibbee of Gilman; three grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; three sisters, Helen Dunn of Santa Ana, California;’ Darlene Wilson of Des Moines and Barbara Stiffler of Newton; two brothers, Homer of Monroe and Bernard of Henderson, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
