Services Held
Florence Isabelle Light passed away Friday, September 8, 1995, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital in Knoxville at the age of 91.
Services were held September 11, 1995, at the Church of the Nazarene in Knoxville. Pastor Robert Atkinson and Pastor Rick Cowman officiated services. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Florence was the daughter of William and Emma Chambers Little and was born July 14, 1904, near Marysville, Iowa. She was one of eleven children.
On July 14, 1920, Florence Isabelle Little was united in marriage to Elbert McKinley Light. The couple was blessed with three children: Gene, Donnie, and Roberta. The family farmed at different locations in Marion County. Florence raised the children and worked on the farm with her husband. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Florence moved to town following the death of her husband, Elbert in March of 1956. She was employed at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville for over 12 years when she retired in 1972.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons Gene and Donnie; a grandson, Raymond Eugene Light Jr.; a great-grandson Grant Dunkin; 4 brothers Walter, Elmer, Thomas and Gerald Little; 6 sisters, Mae Tucker, Clara Reeves, Dollie Wolfe, Marge Parker, Sadie Kinnard and Lois Ford; and her son-in-law John Sille.
Those family members who survive her are daughter Roberta Kinart and her husband Leroy of Monroe; 4 grandsons Steve Vance, Donald, and David Light; 8 granddaughters Nola Watson, Brenda Light, Melody DeHeer, Rhonda Edwards, Lisa Sille, Ruth Ann Calhoun, Rita Dunkin, and Carmen Light; one step-granddaughter, Tamara Boots; 12 great-grandsons, 5 great-granddaughters, one step-great grandson, 2 great-great-grandsons, and one great-great-granddaughter, plus many other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
