Funeral services for Richard Lewis were held Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax with burial following at McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
Richard Lewis, age 74 of Colfax, died Saturday, November 18, 2006, at his home. Memorials may be given to the Colfax Emergency Unit or the Newton Police Dog Fund and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of William J. and Kathern (Logan) Lewis, Richard was born on August 26, 1932, in Greencastle, Iowa. Richard attended Colfax High School and graduated in 1952. From 1952 to 1954, Richard proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. On December 22, 1956, Richard was united in marriage with patsy Darlene Earles at Newton. Richard was a lifelong resident of Colfax and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Local 997, and JayCee’s.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife Patsy, children Terry Lewis and his wife Deana of Monroe, Darlene Berkenbosch and her husband David of Newton, and Lori Williams and her husband Mike of Colfax. Those also left to honor his memory are his brother Charlie Lewis of Colfax, sister Betty Lewis of Colfax, grandchildren Jason, Lindsay (Travis), Nick, Andy, Adam, and Bradley, and one great-grandchild Landwehr on the way.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill and sister Maude.
