Services Thursday for Erle Le Grand
Funeral services for Erle Le Grand, who passed away Monday, will be held Thursday, Jan. 7 (today) at 3:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church.
Rev. Warren McFate, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Monroe Silent City Cemetery.

Life Story of Erle Le Grand
Erle Franklin Le Grand, the son of John Wesley and Rozella K. Le Grand, was born in Marion County, Iowa, on the farm where he had spent his entire life. He passed from this life on January 4, 1971, at the age of 63 years.
On January 20, 1930, he was united in marriage with Dorothy Vaught at the Grace Methodist Church in Des Moines.
To this union were born two children, John J. Le Grand of Monroe and Mrs. Rudy (Jane) Bieber of Westchester, Ill. In addition to his widow and children he leaves four grandchildren, Jim and Mary Jo Le Grand of Monroe and Tom and John Bieber of Westchester, Ill.; a brother, Cecil Le Grand of Des Moines; and a cousin-sister, Martha Kane Baer of Wheatridge, Colo.
Erle received his education in the Monroe Public School, graduating with the class of 1926. Continuing his education he attended the liberal arts college of Drake University and Four C’s Commercial College in Des Moines to study Business Law.
He has been a life long member of the United Methodist Church, having served in all capacities of the official board, and was a charter member of the Builder’s Sunday School Class.
He had been a member of the new Monroe Community School Board for 14 years, serving as president for eight years.
He greatly enjoyed spectator sports and music and attended many of these local events.
He was laid to rest at sunset, January 7 in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
