Services For Bess Le Grand Today
Funeral services for Mrs. Bess Le Grand will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30 (today) at the United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Warren McFate, minister of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
Mrs. Le Grand passed away Monday afternoon at Pella Community Hospital.

Life Story of Mrs. Wm. LeGrand
Funeral services for Mrs. William N. (Bess) LeGrand, 88, of Monroe, a longtime Jasper County resident, were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Monroe.
The Rev. Warren McFate, pastor of the church conducted the services. Burial was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. George C. (Nell) Heisterman of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1953.
Mrs. LeGrand was a member of the PEO and the Woman’s Club.
She had been employed as a teacher in Omaha, Neb., and Oklahoma City, Okla.
The daughter of Charles M. and Susan Masteeler Baird, she was born Oct. 10, 1883 in Prairie City and was a graduate of Prairie City Community High School, Simpson College at Indianola and Iowa City.
She was married in 1935 in the State University of Iowa at Joliet, Ill.
