June 7, 1964 ~ July 5, 2016

Rodney “Hot Rod” D. Dobbs, 52, of Newton died on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Heritage Manor in Newton. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials in Rodney’s name may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, please add, attn.: Dobbs Family.

Rodney, the son of Raymond and Lucille (Gomez) Dobbs, was born June 7, 1964 in Newton. He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1982. Rodney worked in the factory at Woodland Containers and later did construction work for LVB Construction. Rodney took pleasure in being outdoors whether he was fishing, hunting, going for walks, stargazing, working in the yard, or watching the birds and animals. He enjoyed being at Door of Faith and helping out at Christian Life Church and Haven Vineyard. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Those left to honor Rodney’s memory include his children, Edwin and Shawn Dobbs, both of Newton; his siblings, Ed (Jackie) Dobbs of Newton, Pam (Daryl) Van Brogen of Sully, Debora (Tim) Ridout of Green Mountain, Russell (Justina) Terlouw of Newton, and Curtis (Keri) Burton of Newton; his special friend, Shirley Anderson of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Hitner. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 5 July 2016.
