Theodore "Ted" J. Lager
April 5, 1948 ~ July 4, 2016 (age 68)

Theodore “Ted” James Lager was born April 5, 1948 and passed away July 4, 2016, surrounded by his family, after a recent battle with leukemia. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 8, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society may be left at the funeral home. If mailing, please add, "Attn: Lager Family" to the envelope.

Ted was born in Maryville, MO, and raised in Clyde, MO on the family farm. He graduated from Jefferson C-123 in Conception, MO. Ted also served his country in the U.S. Navy. Ted worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 23 years, based out of Boone, Iowa. After he retired, he spent time camping with his wife, spending time with all his grandkids, working on his cars, and recently vacationed in Yuma, AZ with his wife and siblings. Ted enjoyed his Mustangs and fast cars, searching for unique rocks, and time with his family.

Ted is survived by his loving wife, Joy Lager of Gilman; two sons, Jody (Kelly) Lager and Travis (Farrah) Lager; two step-daughters, Karen Kennedy and Kim (Steve) Routon; his grandchildren: Taylor, Tristen, Trista, Elijah, James Dean, Levi, Dylan, Morrison “Mo”, Kyra, Brandon, Hailey, Cody, and Dallas; his siblings: Mary (Bill), Jerome (Bonita), Judy (Ed), Virginia (Gene), Joan (Jude), Gary (Candie), Donna (Ken), Tom (Ilene), Louis (Paula), Juanita (Tom), Lucretia (Dave), and Jim (Cindy); sisters-in-law, Arlene and Judy ; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Anna (Wiederholt) Lager; and brothers, Vincent, John and Don.

A Celebration of Life and military rites will be held at a later date. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 4 July 2016.
